Oak Wainscot Armchair, English mid 17th century
Oak wainscot armchair of naive form, the back top rail carved in relief with an integral scrolling crest, the back panel with a Romanesque arch carved in relief, the downswept arms on turned supports and square section legs united by square section stretchers. The two plank seat original. The sides also with later, patinated turned stretchers probably dating to the 18th century and probably added for stability.
