A gilt and polychrome monstrance (ostensorio), with flamboyant pierced, carved, scrolling foliate and floral borders around an oval centre carved in low relief, the demi-lune shaped base with stepped, elaborate mouldings.  North Veneto, Italy, circa 1780

Now with a foxed mirror plate

Condition:  All the original gilding and polychrome paint, some small damage to the ends of the foliate carving, mirror plate later.
