French oak tilt top vigneron / wine tasting table, circa 1800
Oak tilt top "vigneron" table / wine tasting table, the almost circular planked top raised on a trestle base united by a rectangular stretcher in the centre of which is a swiveling lyre shaped support. French, early 19th century.
It is said that these tables were taken into vineyards during the wine harvest but it is more likely that they were used in the cellars for wine tasting.
