Large walnut chair with upholstered back and seat, the back uprights terminating in mannerist masks, one with an open mouth and the other frowning, the front stretcher elaborately carved and pierced with a central coat of arms supported either side by eagles, the details picked out in gilt. The front legs and the back uprights with geometric carved decoration also picked out in gilt united by shaped side and back stretchers. Upholstered in red leather decorated with antique brass nails. Italy, circa 1660
