Pair walnut sgabelli or back stools. North Italy, early 17th century

Rare pair of solid walnut sgabelli/back stools of rare form with a single plank shaped fretted back with pierced heart shape motif,  morticed into the solid seat and pegged under the seat, supported on three chamfered legs united at the front with a stretcher.  North Italy, mid 17th century.

Condition:  Wonderful colour and patina.  Some small losses and marks and traces of historic woodworm.
