Giltwood and polychrome decorated processional cross, Spain, circa 1500
A large carved wood processional cross in two parts, the cross in flamboyant gothic style with the four terminals carved with fleur de lys and quatrefoil flower heads, decorated with the original gilt and polychrome, the octagonal base into which the cross slots, carved with blind tracery. Spain, late 15th/early 16th century circa 1500
Condition: Historic wood beetle holes throughout, losses and repairs commensurate with age.
