Large terracotta confit jar, the shoulders with two lug handles, the interior glazed pale yellow, the exterior half glazed green over white slip with yellow glaze splashes, the foot unglazed.  South West France, second half of the 19th century.

Condition: Cracks, chips and losses but still watertight.

These jars were used to store various cooked confit meats (mainly goose and duck).  It is pictured with a group of similar jars also individually on the website.
