Giltwood "Sansovino" poplar frame carved and pierced with scrolling acanthus leaves and angel heads, the original gilding very degraded and with losses in areas exposing the yellow bole. The angel head on the top rail was probably originally decorated with polychrome. Italy, probably Venice, circa 1650
Now fitted with a mirror plate
condition: Gilding degraded and missing in areas exposing the yellow bole. Repairs to the carved leaf scrolls on bottom corners.
